Picture This was asked to be a part of this styled shoot for The Connecticut Bride magazine at one of our favorite “hidden gem” shooting locations, Harrybrooke Park in New Milford, CT. When the morning of the shoot arrived, we all gathered at the park’s mansion, Harden House Museum. The former weekend estate of Frank and Elizabeth Harden from 1941-1965, offered a cozy space for the models to get ready as we discussed the types of shots that we were hoping to capture for the magazine spread with the magazine editor Alyson Bowman. Our model bride and groom, Natalie and Corey, were the sweetest couple who will be celebrating their real wedding this October.
They were joined by a “best man” and “maid of honor” from John Casablanca Modeling agency. While we bustled around inside the mansion, beautiful detailed additions to the shoot continued to arrive. A delicate lace wedding gown and shoes, flowers, wedding cake, table settings and an invitation set all custom designed for the shoot were trusted to Picture This’ hand for photographing. Extra special care was taken photographing the couture jewelry and unique jeweled bouquet inside the Harden House sunroom.
Just as we were trying to decide if we were going to shoot outside under umbrellas the rain slowed to a stop. Park director Bill Buckbee said, ”we are all clear on the radar” so we took the opportunity to have him escort us in the Harrybrooke golf cart out to the garden for the ceremony. As we shot the ceremony portion, Bill read from a book that he selected from the museum library. Although he is proficient at officiating wedding ceremonies, this day called for a few humorous passages from the book that had everyone laughing and smiling.
Just as we finished shooting the ceremony, the sun popped out amid fast moving fluffy cloudy. We were able to get amazing shots of the bridal party and of Natalie and Corey just enjoying being in love. We were then able to explore the best spots the park has to offer, finally ending up on the mansion’s back patio overlooking the Still River rapids. The best part of the day was photographing a much deserved toast overlooking the river as the sun set behind us, truly a magical end to an amazing day.
